Adult Counsellor & Child Counsellor (incl. Family Counselling & Couples Counselling)

Born in London, Paul relocated to raise his children in Sussex. After which, Paul retrained and specialised in the counselling of children and young people, managing services in West Sussex schools. Paul has much experience in supporting students in mainstream (primary & secondary), special and independent schools. Paul also mentors undergraduate and postgraduate students through contracts with universities. Paul also sees adults and specialises in the treatment of psychological trauma. He has found both Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy & Brainspotting (a new and interesting offshoot of the former) to be particularly effective in the treatment of trauma, as well as in the treatment of depression, anxiety, OCD, phobia, and a growing list of other symptoms and "disorders". These therapies are effective treatments for both adults and children. Paul is Accredited in counselling & psychotherapy and separately, in EMDR for both Adults (Qualified to Level IV) AND Children (Qualified to Advanced Level II) . Not many local EMDR therapists are EMDR UK accredited  for the treatment of adults OR children.

Accreditation schemes aim to recognise the achievement of high standards of knowledge, experience and development in counselling and psychotherapeutic treatment. Accreditations can be used to help clients, employers, practitioners and students to make an informed decision when choosing a therapist, service or training course.

Paul has been in private practice since 2009 and is now a director at Paul Gregory Associates Ltd, where he currently devotes most of his therapeutic time. GPs, psychiatrists, healthcare providers and all local Children's Services (Local Authorities) refer in to him. Paul specializes in the treatment of Children Looked After (CLA), Care Leavers, Young Mothers and adoptive families through Adoptive Support Fund (ASF) including Special Guardianship Orders (SGOs). Please ask for the details about this service as there are limitations as indicated on the Home Page. Paul is in-house psychotherapist for the South East region of a large national group providing children's residential care where he offers attachment-informed consultation to Registered Managers and their staff. Paul also lectures and delivers trainings and workshops to private and charity-funded health organisations concerned with therapy or the mental health of children and young people. Paul is undertaking Doctoral research in London (incomplete). His area of interest is therapist-client attunement in the therapeutic relationship specifically in the delivery of EMDR. Paul delivers the initial assessments for PGA Ltd and many of the therapeutic interventions. He will also case-manage other interventions where appropriate.
